Outstanding Craft From Around The World

London Craft Week invites partners from around the world to join our annual showcase of outstanding craftsmanship. Each year we take great joy in celebrating the unsung creative heroes of lesser-known local craft practices, as well as showcasing the ways in which established traditions are being interpreted and progressed by contemporary practitioners.

Always seeking to introduce visitors to something new, the programme presents craft from less widely-covered regions, including this year: weaving from Kuwait, embroidery from Yemen and, courtesy of the Austrian Pavilion, presented by Meisterstrasse Handmade, local craftsmanship from Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut region, this year’s European Capital of Culture. Among familiar favourites like Japan and Korea there are always more disciplines and practitioners to discover, from foraged and handwoven baskets to the ancient craft of mother-of-pearl inlay and traditional Korean Jogakbo patchwork. Read on for further details and look out for future newsletters for an in-depth look at more of this year’s International Pavilions.
