Leather Braiding with Genevieve Bennett at Home House
Award-winning leather designer Genevieve Bennett hosts a workshop exploring contemporary braiding and interlacing techniques using a palette of vibrant leathers. Genevieve showcases her process of blending unique geometric patterns and craft techniques to produce strap details and small leather accessories.
Genevieve combines her passion for natural, luxurious materials with an instinctive command of pattern and a commitment to craft. Deriving inspiration from three-dimensional sculptural qualities, surface relief and striking motifs, influences range from 17th-century wood-carvings and historic silks to the ornate leather wallcoverings of 16th-century Europe. By mixing heritage techniques with modern production processes and her own unique designs, she creates products that are precious, distinctive and long-lasting.
Collaboration is at the core of her practice and Genevieve works closely with clients to develop individual works on a commission basis. Genevieve cuts and hand sculpts leather to create unique pieces used for bespoke wallcoverings, artworks, furniture and mirrors and is sought-after by interior designers and private collectors globally. Her work has been commissioned for the world’s finest hotels, yachts, restaurants and private residences.
