Make a Stool: Upholstery at Shoreditch Design Rooms
Learn how to upholster a stool and take home your own work. Throughout the week, visitors can also see the progress of a large piece of iconic designer furniture that is being upholstered by Louise Boyland and the Shoreditch Design Rooms’ team of upholsterers, starting on Tuesday and finishing on Sunday.
The upholstery workshop takes place at Shoreditch Design Rooms and will introduce and demonstrate the different techniques involved in upholstering a stool, before allowing everyone to have a go themselves: preparing the frame, cutting and gluing foam, using a staple gun and then choosing and applying the top fabric. Everyone will be able to take home their finished, bespoke stool! Shoreditch Design Rooms is a converted space in the heart of the old furniture district in Shoreditch. In addition to a fully accredited upholstery school (designated as an official Training Centre by the AMUSF), it is also a working upholstery studio with clients from shops, hotels, interior designers, fabric companies, architects and a variety of private customers.
