Lee Pin-yi

Lee Pin-yi born in Taiwan 1989 is a graduate from Tokyo University of the Arts undergraduate Sculpture programme and the postgraduate in the Conservation of Cultural Property. She has worked on a range of conservation projects of historic buddhist woodcarvings as well as hand painting historical motifs using mineral paints and brushes. Her reproduction of Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra Bodhisattva) on an elephant at the Jion-ji temple in Sagae city, Yamagata is a remarkable carving that has both the weight and lightness of detail of the original, demonstrating her high levels of aesthetic skills from her practice as an artist.
