Sneak an insider’s look at maker’s practice with Craft Scotland. Drawing from its rich heritage, Scotland cultivates a pioneering spirit within its makers. Come along and hear designer/makers’ Angus Ross and Jennifer Gray share the design process behind their innovative contemporary practice.

Designer/maker Jennifer Gray has created a playful range of tessellating surface tiles and condiment sets with both aesthetics and function in mind. Learn more about Jennifer’s design process and watch as she reveals her modelling, moulding and making methods. She will demonstrate her unique technique of mimicking stone surfaces by mixing pigments into jesmonite.

Angus Ross is an award-winning designer/maker who has been at the forefront of British craft furniture for over twenty years. He creates exquisitely handcrafted furniture using sustainably-managed Scottish wood. Angus is an acknowledged master of the traditional Scottish technique of steam-bending. Angus will show the material (oak) in all stages and talk you through the components and techniques involved in his popular Unstable Stool

Craft Scotland is the national agency for craft. The organisation works to unite, inspire and champion craft through creating opportunities for makers and audiences. They lobby for craft as an essential part of Scotland’s cultural, economic and social life. The agency is a charity supported by Creative Scotland.
