Haeckels, the ocean skincare brand, and Ace Hotel London invites guests to experience the ocean from within an inflated biodome filled with scents of the natural coastline. Located in the Ace Hotel’s lobby, the installation features a daily-changing combination of herbal aromas created in Haeckel’s Margate workshop and a soundtrack by artist Wolfgang Buttress which evokes visions of the sea from the heart of London. Inside the biodome guests have a unique sensory journey changing each day; whilst learning about sustainable packaging.

Haeckels was founded in 2012 by film maker, volunteer beach warden and coastal enthusiast Dom bridges. Disillusioned by the production ethos of many larger skin care companies Dom wanted to create simple hand crafted products that showcased the surrounding coasts natural ingredients in the hope that the products themselves would then promote Margate’s heritage of healthy coastal living. When Haeckels was just starting out Dom would collect seaweed and local botanicals along the Margate coast and bring them bring back to his family kitchen to experiment.

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch hangs its hat in London's most creative, engaged district. A hub for galleries, theater and design, Shoreditch is home to the Brick Lane Market, landmark creatives and renegade artists from around the world. The neighbourhood's legacy includes theatres running banned 16th century plays, the debut of drag pioneer Hetty King and the first rumbles of industrialised craft in the Western Hemisphere. Today, Shoreditch is a leader in art, design, cuisine, culture and technology — an outpost in the global community of ideas. We're proud to be able to weave Ace ethos into the ongoing narrative of Shoreditch and support local, national and international craftsmanship.
