Jessica Jue is an emerging silversmithing brand and graduate member of Contemporary British Silversmiths. In an intimate behind-the-scenes look, enjoy a workshop tour and introduction to Jue's silversmith practice, which combines craft tradition with an unmistakable contemporary flair.
She reinvents traditional techniques in silver to craft elegantly beautiful contemporary designs that have won her many accolades, including three silver awards at the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council. Inspired by balance and harmony, Jessica draws and sculpts with dramatic use of fluid and organic curves, and aims to create a sense of rhythmic movement within her collection. She skillfully manipulates her forms through the ancient art of hammering, while also introducing an abundance of rich surface textures, through the use of pattern and gold. Important commissions have included a silver centrepiece for the National Museum of Scotland and the P&O Makower Trust.
In this video created for the LCW Virtual Preview, Jessica gives a behind the scenes look into her studio and demonstrates techniques key to her practice, including hammering and gilding.
