Behind the Scenes at the Chapel Royal, hosted by Helen Chislett, London Connoisseur, with Watts & Company
Booking necessary via email@example.com, 12 places, free, security requirements will be sent to all participants two weeks beforehand
A rare, private glimpse into a living piece of British history replete with spectacular craftsmanship. Co-hosted by Helen Chislett of London Connoisseur, the tour is led by Jon Simpson, Serjeant of the Vestry, with Richard Hawker, Creative Consultant & Archivist at Watts & Company.
The Chapel Royal is not usually accessible to members of the public, so this event presents a truly rare opportunity. St. James's Palace has been the setting for some of the most important events in royal history: Charles II, James II, Mary II and Queen Anne were all born and baptised at St James's; Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in the Chapel Royal in 1840, and both Prince George and Princess Charlotte were christened here.
Jon Simpson explains the history of the Chapel, with particular reference to art and artisanship. Robert Hoare, managing director of Watts & Company, provides fascinating insight into some of the historic textiles that Watts has produced for the Crown
The tour is co-hosted by London Connoisseur, which champions the work of master makers today
