British ceramicist Martha Freud at Claridge’s ArtSpace Café

Exhibition of works from British ceramicist Martha Freud at Claridge’s ArtSpace Café curated by The Wick

About

Visit the newly opened Claridge’s ArtSpace Café for a display of works by British-based artist and ceramicist Martha Freud.

Freud began her eponymous studio in 2008 and is known for the humorous slogans that she embeds into her creations; the delicately constructed ceramics balance a uniquely fragile beauty with her own touch of playful irreverence. Plates, bowls, and candles adorned with word play walk the line between tongue-in-cheek phrasing and philosophical reflection – from naughty quips to earnest protest.

Claridge’s ArtSpace Café sits above the iconic Claridge’s ArtSpace on Brook’s Mews, engineered by Jim Mackey and designed by British-architect John Pawson. This installation is curated by The Wick – your passport into the artworld. The Wick is a diverse content platform bringing together a community of culturally curious taste makers and experts sharing passions for the visual arts and design worlds – on a mission to connect, inspire and educate.

The installation is open from 11 May – 9 June in Claridge’s ArtSpace Café on Brook’s Mews.
