CANCELLED: The Art of the Plate
Dudson stages an exhibition of the shortlisted plate designs from students at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design for the project The Art of the Plate.
As part of their course, students completed a ‘Manufacture and Materiality’ module. This provided an ideal opportunity for Dudson to work with the talented students. Danny Goodall, Design Director at Dudson, comments, ‘We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and creativity shown throughout the project.'
Following a visit to the Dudson factory in Stoke-on-Trent, students were challenged to use their existing knowledge and skills along with their new understanding of manufacturing techniques to deliver against the brief: The Art of the Plate.
The challenge was to design a collection of flatware pieces for use in the restaurant dining market, exploring the potential of the plate as a crucial element of a contemporary dining experience.
The shortlisted designs can be seen at the Dudson showroom situated on Boundary Street, Shoreditch, E2 7JQ for the duration of London Craft Week. Full details of the showroom can be found at dudson.com/showroom-locations/
