CANCELLED: FastCraft: An Exhibition
An exhibition showcasing experimental designs through pairings with the ILEA Collection (Inner London Education Authority) and the College, showcasing the latest in maker FastCraft experimental design and material practices. Works include fast pot-throwing techniques which test the limits of what a human body can make and the first 3D-printed ceramic tile.
First established in 1951 as the ‘Experiment in Design Appreciation’ scheme to promote modern, ‘good design’ through the circulation of boxed showcases loaned to London schools, the collection includes domestic ware, studio pottery and examples of ethnographic objects from Commonwealth countries.
Examples of FastCraft on display include Japanese lacquerware, fast pot-throwing techniques and the first 3D-printed ceramic tile, made for the Victoria & Albert Museum Shop, blending robotic and craft techniques.
