Cast a Plaster Sculpture with Hannah Woodhouse
Sculptor Hannah Woodhouse hosts a plaster casting workshop in which participants cast and hand finish one or two maquettes (small models) of the artists’s Ovoid, Shell and Tulip wall sconces. While your plaster sculptures are setting in the moulds, enjoy refreshments and explore Hannah’s collection of hand made art wall lights. After de-moulding the plaster you will hand finish your pieces to a beautiful smooth finish using specialist sponges and wet and dry sand paper. Participants will take home their hand finished plaster sculptures at the end of the workshop.
See Hannah demonstrate the techniques she employs to create the organic forms and mineral finish of her unique range of wall sconces. This is a fun and informal workshop, no previous experience is necessary. We provide aprons but please come wearing old/non precious clothing.
Considered an influential figure in lighting design, Hannah has exhibited for many years at Sotheby’s London and New York galleries, and her lights adorn some of the world’s most sumptuous interiors. Hannah’s passion for sculpture can be traced back to the year she spent working in Paris, living in the household of Henri Cartier-Bresson and his wife Martine Franck. Her expressive range of lights and candlesticks draw on the aesthetic influences of mid-20th century European sculpture and the natural forms which surrounded her and her family in their former home in south-west France.
