Demonstration, booking not necessary, 50 places, £3, first come first served
Exhibition, booking not necessary, free
The Han Collection exhibits a range of artists, celebrating three of Korea’s most loved traditional crafts: ceramics, embroidery and lacquerware. Guests are also invited to witness a Korean tea ceremony and participate in a tea tasting.
This exhibition aims to showcase the beauty and intricacies of Korean craftsmanship. Korean embroidery is distinct in its hand-sewn mix, use of colour and its various applications. Ceramics continue to be a mastercraft, both within and outside the Korean peninsula, with such acclaimed pieces as the ‘moon jar’. Further to this, lacquerwares have a long and well-developed heritage on the peninsula, utilised both within the royal courts and in many homes around the country.
The traditional Korean tea ceremony at the gallery is conducted by a special guest, with the opportunity to taste and purchase the tea.
