Crystal Embroidery on Bioplastic Workshop
‘Bioplastics at the Sea’
In this workshop you’ll learn several embellishment techniques to place crystal beads and sequins onto a bioplastic sample, using the same materials used by Clara to build her collection. Clara will also teach a few embroidery stitches that resemble shells and molluscs to create a sea-friendly embroidered piece. Beginners are welcome and all materials are included. You’ll take home a hoop, fabric samples, threads and needles to continue practising at home.
Clara Pinto is a fashion designer from Buenos Aires working in London. She launched her ready-to-wear brand in 2019. Aiming to produce clothes that highlight intricate experimental textiles, she works with non-traditional materials such as bio-plastics, raw wool and hair.
Wool is Clara’s most valued resource and with every season, she introduces new breeds from all over the world to contribute quality, various exciting textures and a beautiful range of shades. With the use of natural dyes, different felting techniques and specific embroidery stitches, wool is shaped in unexpected exciting forms to create irreplicable patterns for the collections.
After graduating with a BA in Fashion and Textiles, Clara worked for several years in luxury fashion houses before setting up her own label. In 2019 she went on to become an artist in residence at Sarabande, the Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation.
