About

This panel discussion examines the different relationships behind building and curating craft collections. Focusing on the collection of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild, the relationships between advisor, dealer, maker and collector are explored with first-hand experience from all sides. Victoria had an extraordinary eye and built a number of special relationships with dealers as she travelled around the world for her passion.

The panel includes:

  • Tomasz Starzewski, the fashion and interior designer, a close friend of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild who helped to curate her collection;
  • Marijke Varrall-Jones, founding director of Maak, the market-leading auction house dedicated to contemporary ceramics, who are launching their auctions of contemporary craft with the sale of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild’s collection;
  • Anthony Bryant, a maker whose works are represented in Victoria’s collection, known for his mastery of ‘green’ woodturning technique to create sculptural vessel forms.
