Morley College London offers high-quality craft adult education, with a wide range of courses in contemporary and traditional craft skills. Workshops will be in the Waterloo Centre.
Ribbon Art Workshop with Vesna Pesic

In this hands-on session, gain the skills to make beautiful cockades that can adorn your hats or become a broach. Techniques taught are inspired by artistry of past eras. Ribbons are provided but students may bring their own if they wish. There will be a half hour lunch break, please bring a packed lunch.

CANCELLED – Vintage Costume and Collar/Cravat Workshop with Julie (Jay) Francois-Campbell

Explore this fascinating aspect of Victorian dress, worn during the reign of Queen Victoria. This workshop focuses on the popular styles of neckwear. Full and lacy for women and regal and sophisticated for men. During the workshop we will be choosing a pattern, marking out the initial shape on fabric, adding lace for a full and attractive collar for ladies, or inserting pleats to shape a stylish necktie for gentlemen. Workshop led by tailoring artist, Julie (Jay) Francois-Campbell.

Miniature throwing workshop with Fay De Winter – SOLD OUT

In collaboration with State of Clay at Morley College London, tutor Fay De Winter has been invited to hold a two hour pottery workshop, 12-2pm as part of London Craft Week, set within the ceramic studio space. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a session throwing miniature porcelain ceramic works on a small table top wheel, decorated with coloured slips’.

Pinholes & Obscura’s Workshop – Make and Use your Own Camera with Natalie Keymist – SOLD OUT

There is something entirely fascinating about pinhole and homemade cameras. From the very first ‘Camera Obscura’s’ to the beautifully crafted pinhole cameras of today, lens-free analogue picture-making has remained a magical way to make photographs. On this fun workshop learn how to construct your very own cameras from a range of simple and cheap objects and materials, make exposures onto photographic paper and process the results in our portable darkroom!

There are amazing results that can be achieved with both the object itself and the images it can produce. The results are only limited by your imagination!

Students will be able to take their creations home with them.

Materials are provided but students may bring their own if they wish. There will be a half hour lunch break, please bring a packed lunch.

Felt and Stitch Workshop with Mary Spyrou

Learn how to make felt using wet felting technique and multicoloured merino wool fibres.

You will be able to fashion your piece of felt into a small purse or bag; needle case or small picture, embellishing with a variety of hand stitches, beads and buttons.

Making the Cut: Wood Engraving Workshop with Peter Brown – SOLD OUT

Spend an afternoon in the traditional world of wood engraving where you will cut your own woodblock and print from it. You will use traditional tools to explore the emotional quality of marks by cutting directly into a woodblock and then produce prints from it with the use of a Victorian printing press. There will a half hour lunch break, please bring a packed lunch.

An exciting course that explores different ways of printing from found and recycled materials including corrugated cardboard, cartons and packaging, textured papers and fabric.
