In Dialogue: Kit Kemp, Kate Malone & Grant Gibson at Ham Yard Hotel
FiredUp4 celebrates the work of an impressive group of the UK’s leading ceramic and visual artists in an innovative campaign to fundraise for the provision of pottery studios providing access to young people through the Onside Youth Zone network. Instigated and led by leading ceramicist and Onside Ceramic Ambassador, Kate Malone MBE, this exhibition and auction brings together 32 uniquely crafted pieces each created out of 3kg of clay.
To celebrate the launch of FiredUp4, Kate Malone will be in conversation with Kit Kemp, interior designer and Founder and Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels, at Ham Yard Hotel, chaired by Design Writer, Editor and Podcast Host of Material Matters, Grant Gibson.
The panel will discuss the benefits of ceramics and creativity, the importance of craft and championing craftspeople, as well as exploring how to live with and collect ceramics. The event will mark the launch of the campaign and will result with an online auction hosted by Maak, the leading auction house dedicated to ceramics, on 19 November.
All proceeds will go towards equipping two pottery studios and training and supplying staff for one year, in two Youth Zones in the North West. Eventually, the hope is to raise enough funds to reach as many young people as possible.
