English Bulrush-Weaving Workshop with Felicity Irons and British Standard Cupboards
Enjoy a rush-weaving workshop with Rushmatters founder Felicity Irons, one of the last of the English rush weavers, at the British Standard Cupboards showroom. Whilst making your own rush basket, listen as Felicity and British Standard Cupboards founder Katie Fontana discuss the history of a craft that remains unchanged since Anglo-Saxon times.
In 2012, 20 years after successfully establishing Plain English as one of the most highly-regarded kitchen companies in the UK, Katie Fontana and Tony Niblock launched British Standard Cupboards. Back when Katie and Tony started Plain English, the business focused on making ‘standard-sized’ cupboards that were fitted by the clients themselves. Over the years, Plain English has evolved into a bespoke design company valued for its understated elegance, where delivery and fitting of the end kitchen is all part and parcel of the service.
In launching British Standard Cupboards, Katie and Tony wanted to create a ‘no frills’ collection of ‘standard-size’ cupboards available to buy online. British Standard Cupboards are made in Suffolk to exacting standards, and celebrate the best in quality materials and craftsmanship.
During the workshop on Friday 10 May, lunch will be served at 1pm.
