British luggage maker, Globe-Trotter collaborates with Vitale Barberis Canonico, one of Italy’s oldest fabric mills to demonstrate intricate time-honoured craftsmanship skills, using methods which have remained unchanged for more than 120 years.
The collaboration will introduce a set of bespoke luggage cases covered in Vitale Barberis Canonico’s H.O.P.E fabrics – their latest sustainable fabric range. H.O.P.E. (acronym of How to Optimise People and Environment) demonstrates that a sustainable line of fabrics can be created using natural recycled fibres or plant fibres without surrendering quality.

The choice of fabric perfectly complements Globe-Trotter’s ethos; of producing long-lasting luggage which doesn’t compromise its much-loved design that remains iconic to this day.

Cases in three different sizes will be created, ranging from the smallest

7” London Square size, followed by a 14” Mini Utility Case, to Globe-Trotter’s most popular 20” Trolley Case.

7” London Square (Wool and Camel hair overcoat undyed/Tan) Overcoat fabric created with camel hair yarns in natural, undyed colours as found on the animal itself. Neither colorants nor dyes are used. The fancies develop as a result of the colour play between the white of the wool and the camel hair.

14” Mini Attaché Case (Woollen Jacket with 67% virgin wool 30% recycled wool 3% silk/Black) Woollen jacket with 30% recycled yarn from waste materials. Fancies are developed in greys and blues.

20” Trolley Case (Alpaca overcoat in natural colours/ Burgundy) Overcoat fabric, milled, colours ranging from the whites to the browns of the alpacas. Created in herringbone, houndstooth and Prince of Wales. The lining is made of Woollen Jacket With 85% Virgin Wool 15% Recycled Wool Woollen jacket with 15% recycled yarn from waste materials.
