Hiut Denim at the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales
Hosted by the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales, Welsh jean makers Hiut Denim break down the process of making a jean and discuss how they are bringing manufacturing back to Wales and getting their town making jeans again.
Cardigan is a small town of 4,000 people. 400 of them used to make jeans. They made 35,000 pairs a week, for three decades – then one day the factory closed. But all that skill and know-how remained, without any way of showing the world what they could do. That’s why The Hiut Denim Company was launched: to bring manufacturing back home and use the skills on their doorstep. Their town is going to make jeans again.
