Kate Braine Pottery Studio Visit and Exhibition
Kate Braine opens her house to exhibit works made over the last 10 years in her Chelsea studio. The tour includes a visit to Kate’s garden studio and the chance to see a multitude of pots on display in her attached house.
Kate Braine has been making pottery and sculpture in her garden studio for over 10 years. The pieces she produces are all made in her studio using her kiln, wheel and glazes. Many works go to galleries, or are exhibited in her attached house. She has made homeware for her kitchen as well as wall hangings, tiles and more. As many as 300 pots were scattered around the house at one point!
Kate’s house is located very close to where Chelsea China factory was and is a few doors down from where William de Morgan had his workshop. This part of old Chelsea was historically full of pottery production, and indeed the Chelsea potter pub off the Kings Road is on the old Chelsea pottery site.
Kate works in stoneware, porcelain and terracotta clay, and produces her own glazes. She is currently producing a series of dog and cat bowls in Stoke on Trent, as well as selling bowls with swans, cows, strawberries and floral decorations. All of this collection is available to see, as well all the other series of her work.
