Kingsgate Workshops hosts a unique mix of contemporary craft practitioners and artists in a Victorian warehouse in West Hampstead, an area with very little provision for artist studio space. To provide our makers with security, we offer long leases at a subsidised rate to allow them to develop.

For London Craft Week 2020, Kingsgate Workshops are hosting three special events taking place, whilst Kingsgate artists and makers open their doors for visitors during an open weekend.

Sonny Bailey-Aird, the jeweller behind Rusty’s jewellery, invites visitors in for a tour of his new studio and a demonstration of some of his traditional goldsmith techniques, explaining how and why he chooses to make pieces that are impossible to replicate and bear the clear marks of the tools that make them.

Join ceramicist Alison Cooke as she describes recent projects about lost landscape and the London sewer. Over a glass of fizz Alison will demonstrate some of the techniques she uses and talk about the challenges of working with unknown materials.

Experienced ceramicist Josie Warshaw will present a demonstration on the traditional art of raku firing in the beautiful Yard at Kingsgate Workshops. Enjoy her explanation of this ancient process and how it applies to her work
