This collaboration between Dodds & Shute and Yarn Collective aims to help raise awareness of sustainable innovation, imagination and products in the design sector, with a special focus on textiles.
Yarn Collective creates natural and recycled textiles while still supplying fabrics of the highest quality. Its recycled textile collections, Albee, Molly and Jack – all on display over the week – are beautifully woven with recycled cotton from the fashion industry. The cotton is offcuts left over from the production of clothes that otherwise would have gone to landfill. In the UK alone, 1.7kg of fashion waste per person is landfilled each year. Yarn Collective hopes that recycling fashion waste can help lessen the impact we all have on the environment. The company is committed to never having a large number of textile collections, feeling that too often this only leads to unnecessary waste. Instead, it opts to keep its number of ranges small, comprising of timeless textiles, from cottons to velvets to bouclés, that designers can return to again and again. By the end of 2022, the company’s ambition is for at least 70% of its collections to be made with recycled materials.
