Join Two Temple Place online for a live streamed performance by textile and performance artist Enam Gbewonyo.
Enam Gbewonyo’s work explores identity, womanhood, and humanity. In this site-specific performance, accompanied by live music, Gbewonyo works with textile – tights – to enact the healing and unbinding of Black women from the constrictions of contemporary life. The performance is an ode to the female form, its fluidity, its power and its softness, but is given particular contemporary relevance, and has been developed in response to, both the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.
The performance will be live streamed, lasting 10 minutes at 3pm and 6:30pm. A film of the performance will be available online on after the event. Details to come.
Enam Gbewonyo is a textile and performance artist and founder of Black British Female Artist Collective (BBFA).
This performance was developed for Two Temple Place and is the first in a new programme of cultural events which welcomes work from a range of art forms including performance, theatre, spoken word, dance and visual arts, made by underrepresented makers, craftspeople and artists.
