South African luxury accessories brand Okapi launch their made-to-order bespoke collection, with the opportunity to meet with the designer and create your own unique piece. An immersive installation showcases the craftsmanship which goes into each design.

Okapi is the first luxury brand to be made entirely in Africa from locally sourced raw materials. The line of luxury handbags and accessories is named after the elusive antelope, otherwise known as the ‘African unicorn’, and the brand draws influence from the mysticism of Africa’s pre-colonial era, exploration, magic and the natural world.

Okapi works only with the highest quality African exotic skins, and its manufacturers have over six generations’ worth of experience in the exotics industry. For its materials Okapi works closely with the farming communities of the Karoo and sources their leathers as a byproduct of existing farming practices, making them extremely sustainable and reducing waste. Wherever possible they choose to work by hand and place a particular emphasis on nature conservation throughout the whole production process.

At the core of Okapi is also an ethos of creating trade not aid, and they continually strive to collaborate with and support the grassroots craft groups in and around South Africa within each collection in order to create sustainable jobs on the continent.

The installation is open to all, however to arrange a personal bespoke appointment with the designer please contact the Okapi showroom.
