About
ISHKAR teams up with the Tatreez Collective to host a workshop on the art of Palestinian tatreez.
Participants learn how to cross-stitch the Bethlehem star, a traditional motif often appearing in Palestinian embroidery. The workshop runs for two hours and 15 minutes and includes a presentation on the history and significance of Palestinian embroidery, specifically cross-stitch. All materials needed for the workshop are provided, including threads, aida stitching material and needles. Attendees can take home their embroidered piece.
This workshop is suitable for beginners. All levels of ability and experience are welcome.
This workshop is hosted by ISHKAR, a social enterprise founded in 2016 by Flore de Taisne and Edmund Le Brun after having lived in Afghanistan for three years. Their aim was to create a brand that would redefine the way the world saw countries torn apart by conflict. Initially doing this through a curated collection of high-end craftsmanship, ISHKAR’s work has since expanded to hosting informative events and organising pioneering trips to destinations such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraqi-Kurdistan.
