Rupert Bevan, designer, maker, finisher of bespoke furniture and creator of the RB Designed collection, gives a talk and demonstration on a variety of traditional skills including gesso, gilding & verre églomisé and their transfer to modern applications.

Rupert Bevan & Company employs traditional skills and techniques to make exceptional items by some of the most talented and specialised craftspeople in the country. Reinterpretation and development of these traditional techniques allow the company to create new finishes for the contemporary interior whilst paying homage to the craft.

‘When something is totally made by machine it’s less interesting – there’s no variation or depth.  A line drawn by hand is a fine thing, an aesthetically interesting thing, but a line drawn on a computer is not.’  – Rupert Bevan
