‘Soft Dialogue’ presents a miscellaneous and noteworthy collection of art and design pieces. Challenging our understanding of textiles, a group of ten emerging international textile artists, makers and researchers reveal their practices through polished craftsmanship. Emotion-led concepts connect the practitioners together; engaging themselves and their audience in an ever-evolving exchange between people, space and objects.
As visitors, you are invited to take a closer look at the multifaceted approaches exhibited. With skilled hands, the techniques of embroidery, knitting, weaving, printing, sculpture, felting, mending, painting and the act of caring are explored. Addressing subject matters such as mental health and wellbeing, interpersonal and social relations, the makers invite you to take part in this ‘soft dialogue’. The show takes place in The Department Store in the heart of Brixton, recently refurbished by Squire and Partners.
Participating artists: Alice Burnhope, Ariane Fourquier, Chloé Rochefort, Jiaxi Li, Livia Papiernik, Mae Chan, Pei-Chi Lee, Vivien Reinert, WooJin Joo, and YuMei Huang.
