Sublime Alchemy at Joanna Bird Contemporary Collections
Under the theme of Korean and Japanese ceramics, Joanna Bird introduces new artists for this Spring exhibition. The show explores the fascinating contrast of aesthetics between both cultures and ceramic styles.
A rare group of works by the pre-eminent Korean Master Potter, Soon-Tak Ji (1912 – 1994) demonstrate his outstanding achievements. Soon-Tak Ji was deemed a Living National Treasure in his lifetime and remains one of the most influential potters in modern Korean ceramics. These unique pieces are representative of his output at its best.
Featuring artists: Soon-Tak Ji, Hyejeong Kim, Akiko Hirai, Kaori Tatebayashi, Jaejun Lee, Hiroko Mita, Miyu Kurihara, Adam Buick, Svend Bayer, John Ward, Halima Cassell, Carina Ciscato, Pippin Drysdale, Katie Spragg, Adi Toch, James Oughtibridge. Also included; past masters Kenkichi Tomimoto, Joanna Constantinidis and Lucie Rie.
How to get to the gallery: It a short 5-10 minute walk from Chiswick mainline train station to the gallery. Alternately take the District Line to Gunnersbury and walk 15-20 minutes to the gallery.
