Angela Thwaites is an artist, author and educator with more than 30 years of international experience in the field of glass. Her artistic practice focuses on sculpture and she frequently exhibits her visually diverse work, which combines glass with metal, stone, wood and other materials, both in the UK and internationally. Technically accomplished and imaginative, her latest pieces combine 3D print processes with analogue glass casting techniques, creating aesthetically stunning results.
Angela is an established teacher and academic. She carried out an extensive research project at the Royal College of Art investigating materials and methods for refractory mould making for kiln casting glass. She was subsequently commissioned to write her first book, 'Mould Making for Glass' which was published by Bloomsbury in 2011. At present, she is a PhD candidate at the University of Sunderland.
