Carina Ciscato was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1970. After graduating from Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado, São Paulo in Industrial Design, she was introduced to Studio Pottery in Krefeld, Germany, where she worked in the studio of Marietta Cremer. On her return to Brazil, she was apprenticed to Lucia Ramenzoni, one of Sao Paulo’s leading ceramic artists. Following a 6-year apprenticeship and a number of courses in the US, Carina started to show her work in local galleries and museum shops.
In 1999 Carina moved to London where she became an assistant in the studio ofJulian Stair and Edmund de Waal. Her move from Brazil to the UK, and the inevitable change in culture and attitudes to ceramics, saw exciting new developments in her work.
In 2003 Carina established her own practice on Vanguard Court in a studio which she shares with Chris Keenan.
