Emma-Jane uses fold-forming techniques alongside traditional metalworking practices to explore the intriguing nature of metals. Her tactile vessels reflect lines and rhythms found in the natural world, with inspiration coming from many observed forms, colours and textures. Emma-Jane Rule’s designs are bespoke luxury for the everyday, destined to be treasured future heirlooms.
Studying silversmithing as a mature student at De Montfort University, Emma-Jane showed at New Designers in 2015 where she was talent-spotted by the Goldsmiths Company. The following year she won silver in the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards, known as the ‘Oscars of the Industry’, and won a Graduate Bursary to show at the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Fair. Her work is now in private collections alongside silver art by leading UK and global silversmiths which she says is “…wonderful and humbling. I feel real joy when I’m engaged in making.”
Emma-Jane joined Design-Nation in 2015.
