Dutch born weaver Erna Janine trained in Holland and Scandinavia before settling in the UK. With a background in traditional weave as well as freestyle Japanese hand loom weaving, she exhibits internationally, creates woven wearables and offers weaving workshop from her Freeweaver Studio at Deptford Market Yard.

Since 2014 she has taken part in textile residencies in Japan and India regularly, reflecting on the hand made element within textiles: using hand spun natural fibres such as forest silk, raw jute and natural dyes, for instance dorozome Bengala (earth pigment dyes from Japan. Her commissioned work includes the SHE_SEES project for Lloyds Register along with Emilie Sandy.
