Fflur Owen

Fflur Owen studies the mesmerising textures within the natural world and then captures this beauty in her work. She fuses leather with other organic materials, hand building forms and patterns that embody nature and our relationship with the natural world. Fflur’s work focuses on the impact we have on landscapes as well as wildlife, hopefully making the viewer question what they can do to preserve it.

Organic and instinctive; one piece of work often leads to the next. In the absence of a template, her ideas take shape in the coordinated activities of eyes, ears, hands, and tools. Within the making process, Fflur responds, develops and adapts her techniques depending on the shape or form. Each individual hand sculpted piece has thousands of leather disks meticulously placed to form complex textured patterns.
