About
Gaia Di Paola is a multi-disciplinary textile artist. Gaia creates unique pieces for interiors with signature artistry and energy. Primarily utilising painting and embroidery, she seamlessly creates works of art with both paint brush and needle and thread – all rigorously by hand. Gaia puts particular thought and research into the medium upon which she creates her pieces for the home, sourcing antique, precious or hand-dyed fabrics with which to create her collections, and it is through this sourcing that her relationship with Howe began. Gaia’s pieces include a number of lampshades, cushions and headboards.
Gaia studied architecture in Rome and later worked as fashion designer for a number of companies, including Bruno Cucinelli. Moving to London, she enriched her technical skills attending various arts and craft courses at St. Martin’s College of Art & Design. Here, she discovered a passion for combining art, fashion and traditional handicrafts resulting in the unique and original interior objects that she now makes. Gaia lives and works between Rome and London, a duality ever present in her work where she combines the eclectic metropolitan energy with her rich Italian heritage of artisanal crafts.
