Lucy Bryant (Haus of Lucy) is a contemporary multi-media artist and graphic designer. Although having graduated from the University of Derby, she is less defined by her formal art training than by her loose, creative approach and varied influences, which include Pop Art, celebrity culture, politics and everyday life.
Lucy’s series of figurines appropriates unloved, kitsch, unfashionable ceramic ornaments and breathes new life into them. A small boy holding a bird becomes a zombie with a handful of glistening entrails whilst a knight on horseback becomes a member of the Met Police.
Lucy has responded to the global pandemic by creating several Covid-19 themed figurines; a mother and child becomes a harassed mum working from home, juggling spreadsheets with the demands of a two year old, whilst a lady and gentleman on a sofa are transformed into a couple doing an online quiz whilst snacking on Percy Pigs.
Lucy’s art subverts the everyday and the banal, always striving to disrupt the ordinary and create something entirely new.
