Jo Cope is an artist and conceptual craftswoman working in the UK. Crossing the boundaries of fashion, art, craft and performance, Jo’s unique practice uses shoes as vessels to explore notions of being human.

Handcrafting extreme and extraordinary shoe forms over adapted wooden lasts, she mixes her knowledge of leather and traditional shoe making skills with her own unique working methods. Jo’s shoes become highly crafted conceptual installations often highlighting female centred issues which in turn empower women. Her objective is to use her practice to relay socially provocative messages, which can also be seen through her ongoing creative collaborations with the Shelter Charity.

For over a decade her work has been represented at prestigious events worldwide, including a week long performance for the 2021 Venice Design Biennale and in exhibitions at top museums including The Budapest Museum of Art, State Museum Russia and Decorative Arts Museum Paris.
