Katrin Moye studied English Literature and Art History at Nottingham University, where her love of ceramics led her to set up her own practice in 2005. References to classic literature, baroque interior design and Delftware can all be detected in her work, which is wheel-thrown earthenware and exquisitely handpainted. These traditional techniques make her feel connected to the long and distinguished line of European makers of decorated earthenware that stretches back for hundreds of years.

A never-ending source of inspiration is the habit of borrowing from other cultures and techniques that can be found throughout the history of North European painted ceramics, where a kind of visual game of Chinese whispers is played with amusingly misinterpreted or misunderstood references to things the makers were completely unfamiliar with.

Inspired by her recent pilgrimage to Delft Katrin has created for London Craft week 2020 a Collection of new work to be exhibited through the week at the JET & CO showroom, 20A Pimlico Rd, SW1W 8LJ, where she will be in person at certain times.

The charming JET & CO showroom is quite small and will always do its best to accommodate all visitors, but numbers in the showroom at any one time will be restricted. Therefore please contact them to register interest and make a priority booking for a specific time and especially if you would like to meet Katrin herself.
