KONG Xiangxi is a young maker who explores the abstract spatial construction in ceramics.
He obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, in the city often referred to as the "Porcelain Capital" of China. In recent years, he has tried with clay to shape the abstract space in his mind. His works often show the spatial intervention and reversal similar to the Möbius strip. Meanwhile, under the influence of the Chinese thought of “virtual and real”, he addresses more to the construction of void and abstract spaces. The works often use Chinese classical patterns as the visual guidance for viewers to get the full appreciation.
