LILY RAY’s fiber artworks use natural ingredients including washi in a 2 month process involving over 20 procedures and 16 different techniques, to depict the distinctive charm of Chinese plants. Her works creatively combine different types of materials, including wool, silk thread, paper, cotton thread, paper pulp, iron wire, cloth, wire rope, silver thread, straw, linen, copper wire, fabric, resin, plastic, handmade washi paper, heating adhesive, branches, glass fiber, jute, rice paper, gold foil, paraffin, silk, aluminum foil, palm fiber, steel mesh, nylon rope, crochet fabric, packaging belt and square iron tubes.

The Journey of Chinese plants, made specially for LCW 2020, contains 37 categories of plant either unique to or typical of China.
