Mauro Dell’Orco trained as a furniture maker in a boutique workshop in Trentino – Italy, nearby the small village where he was born and grew up, surrounded by the imposing Dolomites.
After a few years, Mauro studied and graduated as an architect in Venice and lately worked actively collaborating with world-renowned architects on successful and award-winning projects.
Returning to embrace his first passion in making furniture, he continuously uses the knowledge and experience gathered as an architect throughout all the design processes with attention to details in dialogue with a tactile and sensory realm.
The place where he grew up is highly relevant and over time became very formative for his career.
Since his childhood, wood and its materiality have always been part of his life, first as a material to play with, later as a material to work with.
Moving from large urban projects to interior design gave Mauro the ability to craft and develop designs and details across different scales, achieving prestigious recognitions such the Medal of Excellence and the first prize at the Salone del Mobile in Milan for a competition run by Riva1920.
Recently he co-founded WorkshopEast, an innovative incubator for woodworkers and furniture makers who are starting their career. He is a Member of both the British and Italian Boards of Architects.
