QIAN Wenbin was born in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, China. He is a master of stone carving, a senior maker, and an inheritor of the craft of microscopic carvings on Balin stone, typical of Inner Mongolia.
A member of Chinese Arts and Crafts Institute, he has won first prize in the “Hundred Flowers Award” National Competition for Jade and Stone Carving Arts in China for five consecutive years. In 2017, he won Gold Medal of “Tiangong Award”, considered an “Oscar” event for jade and stone carvings in China.
He has selected 6 pieces from his “The Art of War by Sun Tzu” series for London Craft Week 2020. The miniscule carved characters on the stones represent important chapters of this famous book about military tactics, with sharp outlines and beautiful calligraphy.
