Sarah Ward, founder of Lark and Bower launched a series of hand-woven artworks during 2020, complimenting her extensive award-winning portfolio of textile designs. The ‘Wood Woven’ artworks have all been crafted away from the loom, painstakingly created by hand using needle and thread. Working exclusively with waste yarn, Series One focuses on contemporary versions of classic weave patterns; twills, herringbone, hopsack, hounds-tooth and waffle. The Ikat series, which launched at the Burlington Arcade in June 2021, are constructed on-loom, using a double ikat technique that requires both the warp and the weft yarns to be individually hand painted prior to weaving. Further larger works incorporating denim are due to launch A/W 2021.
