Scott Pohlschmidt is a professional artist, specialising in sculpture. He studied Liberal Arts & Science with a focus on Art and History of Art at DePaul University in Chicago. He won the Dean Art Scholarship to study art in Florence and has been in Europe ever since, working as a professional artist and teacher. He worked with Charles Cecil in Florence for ten years before moving to London to co-found London Fine Art Studios, a thriving art school in Battersea that teaches art in the atelier tradition. He set up Lavender Hill Colours, the studios’ art shop that also sells online. He spends his time teaching sculpture, taking on commissions and running the school and art shop. He also runs art material workshops, teaching aspiring artists how to grind paints, stretch canvases and understand their choice of oil paints and brushes.
Scott’s passion is art, his favourite artists being Ribera, Sargent and especially Rodin. He has had the honour of painting many esteemed people, including Andrew Marr, Alfred Molina, Gavin Henson, Professor Brian Sutton, Wendy Cope OBE and Sir Andrew Motion FRSL. He has led many workshops in galleries such as the Dulwich picture Gallery, Leighton House Museum and the Watts Gallery.
