Shauna White is the latest apprentice bookbinder at Barnard & Westwood Fine Printers & Bookbinders. Having previously completed an embroidery degree with The Royal School of Needlework, she was drawn to bookbinding by a love of precision and intricacy. Shauna enjoys the challenge of combining her existing hand skills within a new discipline steeped in tradition. She has a real desire to keep heritage crafts alive and is inspired by her fellow craftspeople within the bindery.
Together with her colleagues, the B&W bookbinding team combine historical and contemporary skills to craft Fine Bindings and bespoke, one-off projects utilising a range of archival materials and premium, ethically sourced leathers. Projects range from traditional book restoration and archival bindings, through to commissions that use cutting edge print technology with innovative, new binding styles and structures.
