Taiwan Yuan-Li Handiwork Association strives to promote traditional rush weaving, holding activities that encourage the craft’s study and cultivate a new generation of talent. Teachers and students of design are given the opportunity to experience rush weaving practices up-close, meaning more young people are becoming familiar with this tradition.
Since 2006, the Association’s Rush-Love Craft Award has sought to inject a new level of creativity into the practice, sparking collaborations between designers and traditional craftspeople. Capitalizing on renewed interest, the Taiwan Yuan-Li Handiwork Association in 2014 established a brand for rush woven products, Taiwan Rush Handcraft, which will further protect and help in the development of the rush weaving industry.
