Tiffany Loy is a Singaporean textile weaver, first trained in industrial design at National University of Singapore, then textile-weaving at Kawashima Textile School. Loy is a receipient of DesignSingapore Scholarship, graduating in 2020 with an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art, specialising in woven textiles.
Since the founding of her eponymous studio in 2014, Loy’s experimental works have been exhibited internationally, in France, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, and Singapore, and at venues such as Singapore Art Museum, Kyoto Municipal Art Museum, and La Triennale di Milano. Loy’s background in product and textile design has led to her unique approach in cross-breeding design methodologies.
Equipped with skills from both disciplines, Loy freely challenges existing modes of design and production. Often referring to traditional techniques and exploring ways to re-frame them in the contemporary context, Loy’s work builds on heritage in experimental ways.
Loy believes in pushing the boundaries of material applications, and in creating relevant discourse on new technologies for the future.
