Maker Wycliffe Stutchbury studied at the London College of Furniture and later graduated from Brighton University with a BA Hons in 3D Craft in 2003. In the same year, he co-founded the Blue Monkey Studio, a collective of Eastbourne based artists. In 2018 he was shortlisted for the Loewe Craft Prize and previous awards include “Best Contribution to Show Award” from the Crafts Council for his work featured in “Origin 2009” at the Somerset House, London in 2009.
Through his intricate landscapes, Wycliffe Stutchbury explores texture, colour and process, while expressing the nature of the material used. The title for each work refers to the location where the wood is found, emphasising the relationship of the material and its environment.
